Meaning: The Sun is the nineteenth Tarot card. It is therefore associated with number 19. 19 conveys the idea of a complete cycle returning to unity and of individuality.

From an astrological perspective, it is associated with the Sun – the source of light, heat, and energy. It is the universal principle by which everything lives and moves. It governs our vitality, creativity, and willpower. As the source of energy, it is connected to the libido, our psychic energy. It rules the sign of Leo and the 5th house. On a physical plane, it rules the heart, blood circulation, the arteries, the spine, and the eyes. This card represents the totality of the Light of the Universe. On a human plane, there are two levels: Individuality, our self-awareness; and Spirituality, the dissolution of our self-awareness in the Universe. We are no longer a drop in the Ocean, and we come to know ourselves as the Ocean itself.

With regard to Love, this card is the symbol of Universal Love. It indicates happiness, the joy of living, vitality, warmth, and trust. It indicates marriage (when accompanied by the Lovers or the Hierophant) and joyful relationships.

With regard to Work, the Sun favors all occupations. A period of success, luck and professional recognition. It can also represent the Spiritual Master if accompanied by The Hierophant.

With regard to Health, it rules the heart. If it appears with The Empress, it may indicate pregnancy.
