Meaning: The Moon is the eighteenth Tarot card. It is therefore associated with number 18. 18 represents two times 9 – and, by reduction, number 9 again, which is the number of darkness, of inaccessible realms, the sky beyond the abyss. This Arcana corresponds to the Hebrew letter ‘Koph’, which translates as ‘the back of the head’. From an astrological perspective, it is associated with the Moon in Scorpio (knowledge of the deepest recesses of the soul) and with the Sun in the eighth house (descent to the underworld).

From a zodiac perspective, its sign is Pisces, a Water sign. The Moon represents the Dark Side of the Universe. It is the complementary opposite of the Sun. Light and shadow emerge simultaneously, they coexist. On a human plane, it represents the darkest aspects of the unconscious, the shadow that attracts and frightens the conscious mind. It refers to the past to which we are attached, especially childhood. It is closely associated with the unconscious or subconscious, with premonitions, intuition, hidden desires, and dreams.

With regard to Love, this card indicates fears and illusions. One does not show what one feels. Love fantasies, impossible dreams, hidden affections, unrequited longings, and jealousy. The relationship is going through a bleak phase.

With regard to Health, it indicates hidden problems. The weakness of this arcana is the mind. It is associated with diseases such as phobias, fears, anxiety and mental confusion.
